Tipster is a nifty program that will let you quickly calculate tips and taxes on your Pocket PC. With a simple tap, you can instantly view the tip and tax amounts required for a given purchase. This figure can be viewed separately, or incorporated into the final sum you owe. The program also offers an easy-to-use interface, and will let you to configure the amounts and percentages used in calculations. Version 2.1 adds support for Windows Mobile 5.0 and Windows Mobile 6 devices.

- "No more fighting over the bill"
The concept is simple: Calculate tips quickly from your mobile phone. Tipster does just that in a single, attractive screen, and also throws in a field for splitting the cost evenly among parties from two to 10. Weirdly lacking is a way to enter the percentage into the tip field--calculations are limited to 5 percent increments, from 0 to 30 percent. The field for entering the bill total has also been strangely implemented, not as a blank slate, but prefilled with zeros. Don't make a mistake or you'll have to input the total again, a minor annoyance in an otherwise useful app.

Pros: This is really not some super complicated thing that a simple calculator can't handle from you handheld device. This program does make the numbers appear more clearly if you are planning to pass it around the table to convince you fellow disgruntle diner to fork out more cash.
Cons: The down fall of this litle program is the limitation of the number of people you can enter for the calulation. There's a upper limit of 10 people. This program would really make a difference when you are at a huge dinner party with 15 to 20 people and trying ot figure out the bill.
