Publisher's description of R-Drive Image 3
From R-tools Technology:R-Drive Image creates disk-image files for backup or duplication purposes. A disk-image file contains an exact, byte-by-byte copy of a hard drive, partition, or logical disk and can be created with various compression levels on the fly without stopping Windows OS. These files then can be stored in a variety of places, including removable media. R-Drive Image is capable of restoring those images on the original disks, on any other partition, or even on a hard drive's free space. The program creates a special bootable diskette for restoring a system partition. To restore only certain files from a disk image, you can connect the image as a virtual disk and copy those files directly from the disk image using Windows Explorer or any other file utility. The program can be restarted in the pseudo-graphic mode directly from Windows to restore data to the system and other locked partitions. Version 3 features: Disk Image scheduler; network support; Action Report; new devices support; software interface improvements.

Version: R-Drive Image 3
"Nice, but I won't be using it"
Pros: Nice interface, easy to use.
Cons: Cannot verify images when created, and therefore cannot verify each byte that is backed up. You can verify images as an independent operation, but this is obviously no substitute for verifying them as they are created! Trust me, please: It is very possible for tiny bits of corruption to creep into the data stream, even when you are backing up from one hard drive to another. Cables, firmware, BIOS, heat--any of these can and DO cause errors. The only safe way to backup is to verify EVERY byte that gets backed up. R-Drive Image cannot do this.

Version: R-Drive Image 3
Pros: Works perfectly when taking an image of a hard drive or partition
Cons: When you come to writing the image to a drive it tells you that you can't do anything with the image in the trial version.

Version: R-Drive Image 3
Pros: A virus distroyed my files, but it is a good thing that I backed up my C: drive by using R-DriveImage. I have quickly created a boot CD. After rebooting, I was able to restore my drive from an image file that was located on the D: drive. It did not take long time. So Now I got WinXP back working again.

Version: R-Drive Image 3
Pros: Hey, you have a really nice utility! A virus destroyed my OS, so I could not boot Windows XP. I did not know what to do. Suddenly a thought comes to mind. I said... Oh man... You have a drive image file that you created a few days before by R-Drive Image. Try to use it. It was a good idea. I have used a boot CD that I created by R-Drive Image. After I booted successfully from a CD, I ran R-DriveImage. I selected a hard drive image file from a list and successfully restored my OS without any problem. It comes back. I am very glad that it did not take long time to rebuild my system. Wonderfull! This nice utility works very well. Thanks!

Version: R-Drive Image 3
"it is a good software package"
Pros: I must say that as an experienced user. R-DriveImage is a good software package for creating "complete" backup images of HDD's, I prefer to use it. It will copy any entire partition from one drive to another. It is much easier to use than others. I've done an entire backup of my harddrive using this program. It works well.
