Publisher's description of LogMeIn Free 4.0.68
From LogMeIn:Free remote access is a reality with LogMeIn. Secure and ease-of-use come together in a powerful remote control solution that's 100% free and gives you full control of your home or work PC from anywhere you are with an Internet connection. LogMeIn is Web-based so it's far easier to use than alternatives - yet offers layers of security that others just don't including end-to-end 256-bit SSL encryption, dual authentication and RSA SecureID. Control your PC from anywhere quickly, easily, and securely.
Version 4.0.68 includes a new-and-improved user interface.

- "Get to your PC, anywhere"
The name might be LogMeIn, but the motto should be SignMeUp.
The fact that it's free to use for multiple remote PCs, with reasonable monthly plans if you need more--five computers for $20 per month or $200 per year--makes this remote-access program instantly appealing. The program differs from its competitors in that the application runs in your Web browser. If you're running Firefox, it asks to install a plug-in and then opens an emulator of the remote PC in a new window. If you have a lot of tabs open, LogMeIn will slow down your browsing and possibly your CPUs clock speed a bit.
The control window gives you some standard options such as Ctrl-Alt-Del (which kills the connection) and changing the view settings, as well as tabbed access to adjust the connection setting. The 256-bit SSL encryption and dual passwords--one for the program and one for the remote PC's log-in--are welcome protections.
You must upgrade to take advantage of the file transfer and synchronization abilities, but creative users should be able to find ways around that restriction for small files. Still, for the functionality and the price, LogMeIn is an excellent program.

Version: LogMeIn Free 4.0.68
Pros: I use this software for several computers, heck, I could use RDP except I can't for the W2k machines. There's always VNC but LogMeIn is easier and less things you have to mess with. If there weren't a free version available, I might pay for this software. It's good enough software worth the $.
Cons: Support for Linux and working with ZoneAlarm you have to make sure that "protect the client" setting is unchecked, otherwise you won't be able to close ZA alert windows, etc.

Version: LogMeIn Free 4.0.68
Pros: It does what it says it does, lets me have total control. This could be exploited somewhere, I think. I will keep aware. I can't beleieve it's free! I smell a trap...
Cons: Very much a resource and memory hog. I only leave it running if I actually intend to use it.

Version: LogMeIn Free 4.0.68
"Oustanding. Incredible. It's real"
Pros: It's free (on a certain way), and you really take control on the other machine. It even is faster than PC Anywhere. You can count on it for sure with this program if you have to log into a remote station.
It worked just perfect in conections XP-Vista and Vista-XP
Cons: The fee. But it sure worths it

"Fast, Easy, completly compatible!!"
Pros: Easy setup, not even basic novice I.T. knowledge needed. Super fast! All scroll mouse features work! Easy chat feature. Easy and full of features. I use to use Radmin, this is way way way better.

Version: LogMeIn Free 4.0.68
"Works great, very feature rich"
Pros: The free version provides really nice and very responsive remote screen control, with a lot of nice features. The new version makes it a lot easier to change screen resolution and colors on the fly, and it has some other nice features (such as the laser pointer) for helping a user at the remote system.
LogMeIn is a lot better than dynamic IP services if you need access to PCs that don't have fixed IPs. Also, it's much easier with LMI to access multiple PCs that go through a NAT router. With Windows remote desktop, VNC, etc. you have to manually configure unique port #s on each machine and then forward those ports in the router. With LMI, you just set up the app on each PC; from then on, you just click it from a list on the LMI site.
I actually switched five PCs -- that are over 2500 miles away -- from VNC to LMI...I installed and configured LogMeIn using VNC, then logged back in through LMI and disabled the VNC software. Now I don't have to leave all those ports open through the firewall for VNC.
Cons: Some cool features, esp. the transferring files between the remote and local machines, require the paid service, which is expensive. I bought it for a year for my home machine on a half-off promo deal; but the regular prices are too high and the multi-user discount is too small. Fortunately, you can do a lot with the free version.
