This software allows you to create nice-looking photo galleries for the Web. You simply select or drag and drop folders containing images or movie files onto JAlbum, and it creates thumbnails and HTML pages to publish your images as a gallery or as a picture slide show. The galleries are based on various templates, and their appearance can be further customized by advanced users. The application's additional features include support for IPTC/EXIF data, style sheets, lossless image manipulation, pluggable image filters, and a built-in FTP/SFTP client. Version 6 has many new features, most notably a new user interface for visually arranging and selecting images, plus support for more file formats (TIFF, BMP, and JPEG 2000).

• "A quick utility for organizing pictures"

Many programs can help you create photo albums for the Web, but few balance ease of use and functionality as gracefully as the free JAlbum. In JAlbum, you assemble your project step-by-step, arranging simple tasks in a logical order. You specify the original image folder, set the album-destination folder, select the images, and generate the album. The program offers a considerable variety of skins for your album and lets you preview them prior to selection. You can easily create a customized slide show from your images, too. The impressive online help pages provide tutorials and detailed assistance. Our favorite feature, however, was the built-in FTP client, which lets you directly upload projects to your Web site. Overall, Jalbum's clear interface and abundant features lift it above most of its competitors.

  Pros: It does what it says. Simple interface and fast results.

  Cons: No transition effects, but again it's FREE.

  "possibly the best freeware out there"

  Pros: Quick and easy to learn, I am planning a vacation to china soon and this will make it easy to add pjhoto's to our website...

  Thanks David Ekholm... Expect a donation if this software continues to perform

  Cons: I have only had the program for 1 day so far... no problems yet

  "Great for newbies and frugal pros"

  Pros: This program handles all major image files, plus a number of other common files, with ease and efficiency. I was able to setup my gallery the way I wanted it to look in minutes - it looks like I spent hours! And it is totally free!!!!! Not only will you love this program, but you may even want to give the maker a donation for his time - it really is that good!

  Cons: I really like this product, but if you have image files that are animated .gifs, the thumbnails it creates are not entirely predictable - you might end up with some black thumbnails. It is easy enough, though, to make your own thumbnails or use the original animated gifs(if they are small) as thumbnails. Then you just need to put the new thumbnails in the appropriate "thumbs" folder and replace .jpg with .gif in the appropriate index files (use a simple text program like Notepad). It may sound tough, but it's really easy. eboniorchid-at-gmail-dot-com

  "The best tool for the job"

  Pros: I have tested many softs for image web publishing and that one is simply the best ever! It works very good (never crashed with me). It runs on Linux and Mac. It's really easy to use and fast. It's multilingual. It's free.

  Cons: - In the download.com requirements for this product, it should be stated that it runs perfectly on MacOSX and on Linux! It is clearly stated on the product's page though.
