- "Don't get burned"
This antiviral program offers rock-solid protection for no financial commitment. AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition provides all the necessities, including a tool for scanning your hard drive and e-mail, as well as a real-time shield to prevent infections.
By default, the application is set to search for new virus definitions daily, but you always can use the scheduling tool to change this. Should a virus create serious system problems, AVG creates a rescue disk to scan your computer in MS-DOS mode. The program doesn't tax your system when scanning or when running in the background and always proved effective in our tests.
The interface can't be described as beautiful, yet it is mostly simple to navigate. Sure, you can plunk down a lot of cash for an antiviral application with more features, but AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition delivers the goods for free.

"NO SUPPORT, FUNCTIONS INACTIVE"
Pros: For a Free AntiVirus it is ok, but way too overrated, as newbies seem to love it. There are much better ones.
Cons: The "Heal" function does not work on the Free version, which I think is pointless in any AntiVirus, since that is precisely the whole point. The only support offered is their forum and even when you submit your query to the right forum, the moderator constantly interferes with it and it never gets answered.

"AVG Anti-Virus is a great virus protection program."
Pros: It does a great job at protectioning your computer against virus. The most wonderful thing about AVG is that it is free and updated daily.

"One of the best programs available"
Pros: Daily updates of the latest anti-virus items. No more waiting a month for some lazy programmers to find and avoid the latest virus & then send it to you. Yes, it takes a minute to update but definitely worth it & comforting too. And for home use, it's free

Pros: The automatic feature makes it easy not to worry about when to check my system.
Cons: If you're running a program and AVG starts up, you'll probably have to restart whatever program you're working on. Perhaps this happens only on my machine, and it's more of a nusance than anything else, but it keeps me from giving it the full 5 stars.
