Version: TrueCrypt 6.1a
"Excellent Encryption product"
Pros: -Very advanced in encryption capabilities
-Free
-Easy to implement
-Volume encryption wizard walks you through the steps
-Can cascade multiple encryption algorithms (ie Serpent and AES)Cons: -Interface is very crude
-Would be nice if documentation went further into details for each advanced feature
-For USB drives, you need admin privileges on host PC (any PC you want to use the drive on) so that Truecrypt Traveler can install driversSummary: Overall, excellent drive/system encryption software. I was very skeptical when newspaper and magazine articles were recommending this freeware product. Based on my past experience, freeware software always have limitations. This product is advance... read more

Version: TrueCrypt 6.1a
Pros: It does what it claims - gives you a convenient encrypted disk partition that can be carried around with you.
Cons: The setup has many options which might be confusing to a non-expert.
Summary: Compared to Rohos, which I also tried, this comes across as a much more solid offering. If you're encrypting your personal data, you don't want to be left in any doubt about the program doing it, whether there are sound resons for those doubts or not... read more

"Freeware is the only way to go here!"
Pros: Freeware is the only way to go here! Theres ons available today at GOTD but I would never use anything to encrypt my data or the system that I can't reinstall should the need arise. This is the best I've found that matches my needs.
Cons: Zero with the exception that a user can slip & forget their password. I recommend using one thats pre-burned into your memory.
Summary: This is a fine example of quality freeware. It's right there with Revo. This is the only one I've used in the past two years. The fact that it really is a true Vista compatible program that doesn't need to be run as administrator only makes it better... read more
